WHAT DEFINES US
How does a photochromic lens work?
The PHASE™ lens contains photoreactive molecules built directly into the polycarbonate. These molecules change structure in the presence of UV rays and darken. As UV exposure decreases, they return to their original form and the lens becomes clear again.
A responsive, automatic system. No battery or switch.
How long does adaptation take?
The transition to a darker tint takes about 30 seconds once exposed to UV rays. The return to a clear tint is more gradual, taking about two to three minutes depending on the ambient temperature. In cold weather, the lens darkens faster and stays dark longer.
In use, the transition is continuous. You do not notice a sudden change between the two states while moving.
What makes SPEK different?
SPEK builds around what really matters to athletes. No overcomplicated designs, gadgets or futuristic promises. Comfort, clear vision, no fog and style that reflects current trends. The fundamentals, delivered without compromise. That's SPEK.
How do your lenses compare with the best on the market?
SPEK works with manufacturers that produce some of the best lenses in the sports industry. UV400 protection, SPEKTRA™ contrast and PHASE™ photochromic technology, and performance-level optics. Access to quality should not be a luxury.
Which sports are they designed for?
SPEK was developed around road cycling and running. These disciplines guided development and field testing. Meeting the demands of cyclists and runners means covering the essentials: stability in motion, ventilation, light weight and clear vision at speed. Those same fundamentals work just as well for trail running, gravel riding, hiking and cross-training. Designed for performance, ready for any terrain.
